Definition
Generic term to denote use of applications (“apps”) within the economic environment. It includes the orientation and construction of these ecosystems, the business models within these ecosystems as well as the value creation logic (e.g., network effect).
Since apps use digital platforms such as app stores for distribution, the term “platform economy” (platform) is often used in a similar sense.
